Rather than posed studio shots, these sessions focus on more authentic connections together. The way you cradle your baby, their little fingers wrapped around yours, those quiet little love filled moments that make up your days together.
What is a lifestyle newborn photography session? A lifestyle newborn session is a session to document your family and your lifestyle. A newborn lifestyle session is going to capture more candid moments than the more studio like shots. As a client you'll be in your most familiar environment - your home! This way your family can just relax and enjoy being together. Whether that's just cuddles on the couch, rocking in the nursery, or hanging out on your bed in your bedroom with the soft morning light filtering through. I'll document the love, the tenderness, and the warmth that fills your home in these early days. Posing will be a lot more interactive and focused on one another, rather than the camera. That way we are able to create more genuine real raw moments between you and your family. The aim isn’t to be perfect – the aim is to be genuine. Which is always the absolute best way in my opinion.
We will be opening up all of the windows and letting that natural light in. Rooms that have a lot of natural light photograph best for indoor lifestyle sessions. Please don't feel obligated to clean your whole house! Lifestyle is real and authentic, so things don’t have to be perfect at all. However, I would recommend some decluttering and a basic tidy – you just don’t need to go crazy! Especially if you have a newborn, you don’t want to be worrying about everything looking perfect! Minimal clutter is always preferred. Also, please make at least one bed in the house that your family can snuggle on!
What to wear?
If you have not received it yet, you can also click this link for my styling guide to get more tips and help make deciding what to wear a tad bit easier if you're feeling a little stumped. A couple things also include, avoiding clothing with logos or images on them. Outfit changes are always welcome at lifestyle sessions. So feel free to pick two different types of outfits - one outfit can be nicer and one can be more casual. Matching family pajamas are always fun too!! For little ones, you may like to let them choose what to wear so that they feel that they can let their little personalities out. For example, if they want to wear their tutu and tiara and those little princess heels we little girls had as kids (do they even still make them anymore? haha) – let them! It captures who they are at this moment in time in this season! You can feel free to restrict their choices, so that they at least pick something you have pre-approved! But let's capture who they are and what they love in this season of life too!
I have such a love for in home family sessions because they get to showcase your sweet family, and even pets too, in the comfort of your own home! In-home sessions are such a fun little peek into your everyday life and capturing them provides you with the lasting memories of these sometime short lived moments! Documenting a season of your life will always be a great idea to me.
